May 7, 2026 Economy & HUD Update

Daily Exports, Crafting, and Interface Updates

Economy & Labor
  • Daily Exports: A new export loop is active at the docks. You can farm and craft items, then deliver them to the Dockmaster. This pays you in Denarius and generates tax revenue for the city coffers.
  • The Oil Press: You can now convert raw fish or olives into oil. This oil can be used for other systems or sold for profit.
Farming & Gathering
  • Olive Picking: Olive trees have been added to the farm areas for harvesting.
  • Auto Attach Props: Harvesting crops like beets and carrots, as well as butchering, will now automatically attach the relevant physical items to your avatar to improve visual realism.
HUD & Survival Updates
  • Hunger Variable: The health HUD has been updated to track hunger as a completely separate variable from your base health.
  • Collapsible Inventory: The inventory section is now hideable. You can click on the section to choose Open or Close, keeping your screen clear when you do not need it.
May 6, 2026 Backend & Systems Update

Database Migration & HUD Tweaks

  • Backend Optimization: Moved the entire Database and backend to a dedicated database instead of it sharing with the rest of the X-Sisters infrastructure because it was creating lag.
  • D12 Rolls: Added standard dice rolls to the D12 button to allow you to make RPG style choices.
  • Capture Mechanics: Updated the capture ropes to now use the land experience rather than request attach every time.
  • Statuses: Added various status choices to the OOC button. You can set a variety of different ones.
  • Delivery Ledger: Added a “Delivery Ledger” for grain deliveries at the dock to now see how many have been done each day and by who.

Farming & Crop Cycles

The farming system has been overhauled to introduce continuous life cycles and soil maintenance.

Growth & Maintenance
  • Growth Phases: Crops now require time to grow. A visual progress bar floats above the soil, showing exactly when the vegetables are ripe. Standard growth time is 15 minutes.
  • Harvest Caps: You can harvest a patch of soil up to 10 times per cycle. A floating text counter displays remaining harvests so you can plan your routes.
  • Streamlined Harvesting: A new menu prompt will appear after a successful harvest, asking if you wish to continue raking the same field. This lets you chain multiple harvests together smoothly.
  • Watering: Once a field hits its 10 harvest limit, the soil depletes. Clicking the field checks your inventory for Water. Confirming the prompt consumes one unit of Water and immediately starts the next growth cycle.

Saltwater Distillation

A new resource processing station is active to convert Saltwater into fresh Water.

Distillation Mechanics
  • Inventory Check: Touching the station scans your HUD inventory for Saltwater. You can choose to process 1 unit, 5 units, or a custom amount.
  • Secure Processing: Processing takes 10 minutes. During this time, the station locks to you, preventing anyone else from interfering with your work. A visual progress bar tracks the time remaining.
  • Collection Window: Once the 10 minutes conclude, the station enters a Ready state. You have a 30 minute window to return and collect your fresh Water. If you miss this window, the station clears itself for the next citizen and your resources are lost.

Interactive City NPCs & Inventory Fix

We have populated the city with new interactive characters to bring a bit more of an “alive” feel to the roleplay environment and provide guidance.

City NPCs & Lore
  • Interactive Citizens: You can now interact with various NPCs placed around the city to learn lore and hear rumors about current events.
  • New Player Guidance: If you are brand new to Venusia Magna, seek out Marcus Flavius for valuable advice and direction.
Bug Fixes
  • Inventory Display: Fixed a bug in the roleplay HUD where the inventory system would break or fail to load if a user’s Second Life username was too long.
May 3, 2026 System Update

Dockside Supply Chain

This is a labor-based roleplay system designed to give you a reason to traverse the city while earning a bit of favor with the Roman authorities.

How to Participate
  • The Starting Point: Head down to the Docks. Look for the large pile of grain sacks near the newly arrived ships.
  • Accepting the Job: Touch the pile to speak with the Dock Dispatcher. You will be given a specific set of orders and a heavy sack of grain will be attached to your back.
  • The Destination: The Dispatcher will tell you exactly where the grain is needed. You could be sent to the Tavern, the Cookhouse, the Ludus, or the Arena.
  • Completing the Delivery: Once you arrive at your assigned location, look for the designated drop-off point and touch it. Your burden will be lifted, and the delivery will be recorded in the city ledgers.
Rules of Labor

Roman law is strict, and the city’s economy depends on your efficiency. Keep the following rules in mind:

Feature Details
Daily Limit You can complete a maximum of 10 deliveries per day. The city does not want its workers collapsing from exhaustion.
City Tax Every successful delivery adds a payment of Denarius directly to the City Coffers to fund public works to keep the economy running.
Worker Bonus For every 10 bags you deliver, the magistrate will authorize a personal payment of Denarius to your purse.
Progress Tracking Your progress is persistent. If you do 5 deliveries today and 5 tomorrow, you will still trigger your bonus on the tenth bag.

New System: Daily Slave Chore Crate

We have introduced a brand new, fully integrated system for assigning and tracking daily labor quotas across the estate.

Quotas & HUD Integration
  • Live Quota Tracking: The new chore crate features dynamic floating text that updates in real-time. It displays exactly how many crops, meats, or fish are needed for the day, marking categories as (FULL) once a goal is met.
  • Seamless HUD Sync: Depositing items via the crate menu communicates directly with your Venusia Magna HUD to securely deduct the required items from your personal inventory.
Role Enforcement & Automation
  • Smart Limitations (Servus): Slaves can only deposit items that are currently required. The crate automatically prevents over-filling (e.g., blocking a deposit of 10 if only 5 items remain on the quota).
  • Authorized Access: Slave Traders and authorized users bypass the cap, allowing them to deposit freely, withdraw items directly to their HUD inventory, or manually wipe the crate.
  • Midnight Resets: At exactly midnight PST, the crate automatically empties itself, archives the data, and resets the quotas for a new day of gathering.
Detailed Labor Reports
  • Labor Tracking: Traders can use the Reports menu to pull detailed data directly into local chat. You can review today’s totals, query specific days from the past week, or pull a full Weekly Report to identify top contributors and those failing their quotas.

Farming & Harvesting Upgrades

To support the new chore system, we have drastically improved the core gathering mechanics.

Gathering Quality of Life
  • Bountiful Harvests: When gathering crops, there is now a calculated chance to trigger a “Bountiful Harvest,” yielding additional bonus crops for your inventory.
  • Continuous Gathering: Streamlined the harvesting animation loop. You no longer need to stand up and re-seat your avatar to initiate another gathering cycle.
  • Interactive Prompts: Upon completing a harvest cycle, a dialog menu will now dynamically prompt you, asking if you wish to continue gathering or step away from the crop node.
April 27, 2026 Economy, Crime & Mini-Games

Interactive NPCs & Underworld Mechanics

Pickpocketing Integration
  • Target Selection: The HUD menu now features a “Pickpocket” option that scans for active targets within a 10m radius.
  • Theft Resolution: Selecting a target initiates an automated theft attempt resolved via a hidden 50/50 background roll.
  • Success State: A successful roll transfers 1-2 Denarius to the thief’s inventory. To facilitate stealth and getaway RP, the victim receives a delayed notification exactly 30 seconds after the theft occurs.
  • Failure State: A failed roll instantly alerts the target via a popup dialog menu. The victim can choose to “Ignore” the attempt or “Confront” the thief. Confronting automatically triggers a local chat shout, exposing the crime to bystanders.
Tali (Knucklebones)
  • New NPC: Added Lucius the Gambler. Players can now wager Denarius on traditional Roman street gambling.
  • Mechanics: Lucius casts four knucklebones, which roll values of 1, 3, 4, or 6.
  • Payout Structure: Rolling “The Venus” (1, 3, 4, 6) triggers a 5x jackpot. Rolling “The Senio” (exactly two 6s) pays out 2x the wager. Rolling “The Dog” or “Vultures” (four 1s) results in a loss to the house.
Tesserae (Three Dice)
  • New NPC: Added Cassius the Dice Master for high-stakes dice games.
  • Mechanics: Cassius throws three standard 6-sided ivory dice.
  • Payout Structure: Rolling “The Imperial Strike” (a perfect 18) triggers a 10x payout. Rolling “The Legion’s March” (a total of 12 to 17) pays out 2x the wager. Rolling an 11 or lower results in a loss to the house.
April 26, 2026 System Overhaul

Combat, RLV Capture & Auto-Attach

Core System & QoL
  • Experience-Based Auto-Attach: The HUD now leverages SL Experiences. If you have opted into the X-Sisters Experience, the HUD auto-attaches upon entering the sim. Manual HUDs can be deleted from your inventory.
  • NPC Healers: Added Healer NPCs around the city. You can now pay them in Denarius to cure active illnesses.
Combat Update
  • Tactical Dice Rounds: Combat now resolves via 1-10 dice rolls for a tactical system. Available stances: Attack, Block, and Dodge.
  • Round-Robin Engagement: The HUD utilizes a turn-based system and notifies you when it is your turn to move.
  • Simultaneous Resolution: Moves lock in secretly. Results, damage calculation, and animations trigger at the exact same time.
  • Strategic Damage: Failed Dodge results in Full Damage (10%). Failed Block results in Half Damage (5%). Double Attacks result in a clash where both players take random damage (5-10%).
Physical Capture & Restraints
  • RLV Lockdown: Accepting a capture now triggers RLV movement locks, blocks HUD detachment, and forces a kneeling animation.
  • Physical Tethering: The HUD now rezzes a physical ropes object attached to the captive’s Right Forearm, dragging them behind the capturer.
  • Safety Fail-safes: Added an OOC Break button for emergency release. Captives are auto-released if the capturer detaches their HUD or logs off.
Network & Integration
  • 10m HUD Verification: Verification utilizes a 10m Ping/Pong signal. Your combat menu will only populate with nearby, active HUD users.
  • Health Integration: Combat outcomes and RLV states now link directly to your main health bar and illness modules.
April 25, 2026 Health & Security

Health System Rebalance & Medical Commands

New Features
  • Medical Treatments: Authorized Doctors can now administer treatments to instantly cure active illnesses (Febris, Pestis, or Morbus) and restore health to 100%.
Balance Tweaks
  • Food Buffs: Eating while sick now carries a chance to cure the illness alongside restoring base health. A notification will confirm if the illness was cleared.
Under-the-Hood Fixes
  • Security Patch: Fixed a bug in the script’s listening channel. The system properly verifies object ownership, preventing bystanders from triggering health commands.
Mechanics Refresher: Base health decreases by 5 points per hour. Below 50% health, the timer speeds up to 43 minutes. Active illnesses double the drain to 10 points per tick.
April 24, 2026 Economy & Payroll

The City Economy & Automated Payroll

New Features
  • The City Coffers: Official coffers are now in the sim. Citizens can click to donate Denarius, with the total balance updating live on floating text.
  • Treasury Boards: Treasury reports have been placed around the sim. These update hourly to display the city’s current financial status.
  • Automated Wages: The system now checks user roles every 24 hours and automatically pays out daily stipends from the City Coffers. You will receive an IM notification when paid, even if offline.
April 23, 2026 Crafting & Gathering

Cooking, Fishing & Storage

Cooking Overhaul
  • Cooking Menus: Sitting at a cooking station now opens a recipe menu after a 5-second delay.
  • Ingredient Verification: Cooking stations now check your HUD’s database directly. Selecting a recipe deducts the required ingredients and starts the cooking animation.
Fishing & Gathering
  • Fishing: Citizens can now fish in local waters.
  • Inventory Sync: Catches are instantly synced to your HUD inventory.
  • Fish Usage: Raw fish can be cooked at hearths, stored in communal crates, or sold to merchants for Denarius.
Storage Crates
  • Communal Storage: Added persistent storage crates. Anyone can donate items to clear inventory space. Withdrawals are restricted to authorized personnel.
  • Crate Logs: Clicking to withdraw will now whisper an organized list of the crate’s contents into local chat.
