Slave Positions and Protocol

A Guide to Servus Posture and Animation Standards in Second Life

A slave’s physical posture serves as the loudest indicator of their absolute submission to the Empire. In Venusia Magna, the premier destination for Second Life Roman Roleplay, maintaining proper physical deportment remains a strict requirement for anyone playing a Servus Romanus. This guide details the universal animations and positions you need to master to provide highly authentic and immersive roleplay.

The Technology: OpenCollar, Nova, and Peanut

Second Life players utilize a variety of technical tools to facilitate BDSM and slavery mechanics. The vast majority of our community relies on established systems like the OpenCollar, the Nova collar, or the Peanut collar. Creators design these devices to come pre-loaded with comprehensive animation sets.

These built-in animations allow your avatar to quickly adopt highly specific submissive postures. You simply click your collar, navigate to the animations menu, and select the required pose. Understanding the universal names of these poses guarantees you can react instantly to the commands of any Dominus or Domina in the city.

Roman Roleplay vs. Gorean Standards

In the early days of Second Life, Gorean roleplay set the technical standard for many slave collars and their associated equipment. Because of this massive historical influence, the naming conventions for slave poses remain highly universal across the entire grid, regardless of the specific roleplay environment.

A Distinct Culture

Roman roleplay operates under completely different historical rules, laws, and cultural expectations than Gorean settings. Venusia Magna is strictly a Roman sim. We utilize these universal animation names to provide a smooth, easily understood transition for new players joining our community. Using the standard naming conventions ensures players from any background can immediately understand and execute basic commands.

The Core Slave Positions

A Roman slave must memorize these five fundamental positions. You will find these exact names located within the animation menus of almost every major slave collar on the grid.

Kneel (Tower)

The Posture: The avatar drops to both knees. They keep their back straight and their hands resting respectfully in front of them or at their sides.

The Context: This position, frequently labeled as ‘Tower’ in OpenCollar menus, serves as the absolute default resting position for any Roman slave. A slave must drop into this position immediately upon a master entering the room or when instructed to wait patiently.

Nadu

The Posture: The slave kneels firmly on the ground with a rigidly straight back. They place their hands flat on their thighs with their palms facing upward.

The Context: This iconic pose indicates complete readiness to receive orders. The upturned palms symbolize that the slave holds no weapons and offers themselves entirely to the will of the master.

Submission

The Posture: The slave kneels on the floor. They raise their arms up and cross their wrists tightly together.

The Context: This pose indicates total physical surrender. Slaves adopt this position to display profound vulnerability, or when they are actively presenting their wrists to be bound by ropes or chains.

Belly

The Posture: The slave lies completely flat on their stomach against the floor. They place their arms behind their back and cross their wrists. They cross their ankles tightly together.

The Context: This represents a position of extreme vulnerability and physical restraint. Masters use this command to secure a slave quickly or to prepare them for strict physical discipline.

Abase (Kiss the Floor)

The Posture: The slave tucks their legs under their body and stretches their arms far out above their head. They bend fully forward to press their lips directly to the floor.

The Context: This represents the absolute highest form of physical deference. Slaves execute this pose to show total worship and submission to a powerful Dominus, a high-ranking member of the Dominae Consilium, or the Emperor himself.

Integrating Posture with Roman Law

Physical posture forms only one part of your existence as property. A slave must pair these physical animations with the correct verbal responses, strict eye contact rules, and immediate obedience. To fully understand the harsh legal realities of your position within the Empire, you must study the Main Slave Training Guide.

Combining the universal animations of your collar with deep historical knowledge ensures you provide the highest quality roleplay experience for yourself and your owners.
